Image Of The Week: Menzies’ Lake Havasu Victory Lap In DCB M37R

A few days after winning last weekend’s SCORE San Felipe 250 trophy truck race in Mexico, Bryce Menzies, a Las Vegas-based professional Trophy Truck driver and owner of Menzies Motorsports LLC, was back in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., to enjoy running his striking DCB Performance Boats M37R Widebody catamaran in this week’s Desert Storm Poker Run.

Fortunately speedonthewatwer.com photographer Jeff Helmkamp managed to find Menzies on the popular Colorado River-fed lake on Wednesday and capture some nice pictures, including the one above. On Thursday, Menzies spent some more time in the boat, which he took delivery of at the end of December and is powered by twin Mercury Racing 450R engines, by running to Topock and back in the morning and then hitting the event’s radical street party in the evening.

“This is my first Desert Storm as a participant,” said Menzies, who is planning to leave for his next race on Saturday. “I attended the run two years ago when I was starting to look for a new boat. I’m looking forward to the poker run and seeing all the different boats on the lake.”

While he wasn’t able to make it because of his racing schedule, Menzies’ boat was a big part of Super Cat Fest West, which took place on the same lake last week. Read the story.

“The guys at DCB lined all of that up and used the boat for that event,” Menzies said. “I would have loved to have been there, but I had the race in Mexico so they took care of everything.”

Of course, it helped that Menzies won the race in his BM7 Ford, all the while knowing his boat was waiting for him in Lake Havasu City.

“All the preparation it takes to win these races starts at the shop with my entire team getting the truck dialed and all of our pit crew striving to be the fastest in the pits,” he said. “That was my first win at San Felipe and it felt amazing. We finished in less than 4-and-a-half hours and the second-place team was only 16 seconds behind us. There are not a lot of room to make mistakes—physical or mental.”
