Local Backing Booming For St. Clair River Classic

As vital as a title sponsor can be for the success of any for go-fastĀ boating event, local business support is equally essential. The upcoming St. Clair River Classic offshore race in Michigan, the fourth event in the six contest American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series, set for July 30-August 1 secured Canada-based Magna International as its presenting sponsor earlier this month. On the local sponsorship side, the Blue Water Offshore Racing Associationā€”a St. Clair-based organizing groupā€”has ā€œformed a new partnershipā€ with the St. Clair Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber of Commerce will manage vendors in the eventā€™s Race Village and is working with the St. Clair Riverview Plaza to program live entertainment during the weekend-long happening.

ā€œWe are extremely excited to be part of this yearā€™s event and help to create a more open and welcoming atmosphere for the community and race fans,ā€ said Brian Ulatowski, the president of the St. Clair Chamber of Commerce, in a press release from the Bluewater organization.

Local sponsors for this yearā€™s event include Raymond Cranes, Cargill Salt, Biewer Lumber, Towbook, Waste Management, DTE Foundation, Anderson, Ekstein & Westrick, Voyageur Restaurant, Foster Oil, Sunrise Convenience Stores, Murphy Inn, Rivers Bend Marina, Sunsation Powerboats, War Water Brewery, LaCroixā€™s Riverside Pub, Drifters Restaurant and Lounge, Pepper Joeā€™s Restaurant, Westhaven Builders, City of St. Clair, Coughlin Jewelers, Murray Underground Systems and Thorpe Printing Services.

Said race director Bob Currier, ā€œThe support from our community and businesses has been amazing. Blue Water Offshore Racing Association is truly grateful and looking forward to producing another fun filled race weekend for race fans.”
