Year In Review Sneak Peek: Keys Island Progression

Just a few years ago, most folks outside of Key West, Fla., hadn’t heard of Daniel Garcia, III. But now, thanks to the 34-year-old Key West local’s love of powerboats and Florida Keys boating combined with his social media savvy, his Keys Island Runners Instagram account has some 32,000 followers.

Keys Island Runners founder Daniel Garcia, III, has a ride of his own—and it will be featured in the Speed On The Water 2021 Year In Review collectible print edition. Photo by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.

We’ve following the progress of Garcia, who works as a utility lineman, since his early days building Keys Island Runners. He’s gone from organizing one-off casual sandbar raft-ups to producing poker runs to benefit charities. None of it has gone to his head. Garcia is simply enjoying the unexpected ride, and he’s grateful for it.

Earlier this year, he let us know about a new personal boat, a new 24-foot Progression with a Mercury Racing 300R outboard engine, he had in the works and planned to finish by fall. So naturally we invited him to run his new prize in our annual November Key West photo shoot for inclusion in our upcoming 2021 Speed On The Water Year In Review print magazine. We just hoped the boat would be ready in time, which as you can see from the image above it was.

All of it couldn’t happen to a nicer and more dedicated guy. Garcia has made an impact on the go-fast boating world, and for his impressive efforts he’ll find himself in the pages of the ultimate high-performance boating print magazine when it’s published next month.

And on that note, this is last day readers can purchase the Speed On The Water 2021 Year In Review issue at the reduced $30 cover price. Click here to order now.
