Big Thunder Marine To Establish Fountain And Donzi Presence In The Florida Keys

Coming off what Big Thunder Marine general manager Jeremy Anderson described as “by far our best show” last week in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the Osage Beach, Mo.-headquartered Fountain and Donzi dealership will have strong representation next week in Key West, Fla. Big Thunder’s Ed Champion and Chad Franzen will be on hand to showcase the brands with a Fountain NX43 center dressed in the Washington, N.C., boat-builder’s vibrant Sport Console interior and exterior package and equipped with quad Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines, as well as a new Fountain 38 SC that recently topped out at a remarkable 103 mph with the same power setup.

“Performance-boat enthusiasts who might not have seen the boats last week in Fort Lauderdale can enjoy them next week in Key West,” said Anderson. “It’s not confirmed just yet, but we may also have the latest Donzi 38 ZRC with Mercury Racing 860s down there.”

Beyond the need for a Fountain and Donzi presence at one of high-performance powerboating’s biggest weeks between the Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run and the Race World Offshore-produced American Power Boat Association/Union Internationale Motonautique Offshore World Championships, Big Thunder’s Key West push is particularly significant this year. The company plans to have a satellite operation in the Florida Keys, according to Anderson, before the 2022 Miami International Boat Show returns to its original Miami Convention Center home in mid-February.

Coming to Key West, this Fountain 38 SC with four Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines reached 103 mph and has been dubbed “the fastest center console in its class.”

Marine industry veteran Shad Vera will represent Fountain and Donzi—and likely another powerboat brand that Anderson and company are keeping under wraps for now—for Big Thunder Marine in the Keys. The move will expand Big Thunder’s Sunshine State presence, as the dealership opened a location in Palm Beach Gardens in June 2020.

“Big Thunder Marine is the East Coast dealer for Fountain and Donzi,” said Anderson. “And we’ll soon have two locations in Florida.”
