Cocoa Beach, Kilo Runs And More On Tap For Tiki Lee’s-Backed Fastboys Racing

Offshore racing fans familiar with green and blue hues of the 30-foot Fastboys Racing Stock V raceboat owned and driven by Ken Bollinger of Harrisburg, Pa., will have to get used to something different this season. Those graphics have been replaced by the predominantly black, pirate-themed livery for Tiki Lee’s Dock Bar in Sparrows Point, Md., which is sponsoring the team this year.

The new-look Tiki Lee’s/Fastboys Racing Phantom will hit the racecourse for the first time tomorrow in Cocoa Beach, Fla., the first stop in the six-race American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series.

As previously reported on speedonthewater.com, Tiki Lee’s is sponsoring a poker run, an American Power Boat Association-sanctioned kilometer run event and a top-speed shootout July 8-11. Bollinger and throttleman Stan Perkoski will pilot their raceboat in the kilo competition as the official representative of the host venue.

“I’m from Pennsylvania but I do most of my boat in the northern Chesapeake Bay so I’m very familiar with Tiki Lee’s,” Bollinger said. “I think this (sponsorship) is a great fit for our team.”

Tiki Lee’s owner David Carey won’t be in Cocoa Beach to cheer on the Tiki Lee’s/Fastboys Racing team this weekend as he’s overseeing construction at the venue including a new pool, new floating docks and 30 new “race front” slips. But Carey said he’ll be keeping tabs on the Tiki Lee’s Shootout On The River-wrapped boat and plans to join the team at an upcoming race. And he can’t wait to see the team take a shot at a kilo record in July.

“I’ve met Ken before from the restaurants and he is the perfect racer to sponsor—he’s so energetic and positive,” Carey said. “With the kilo run and shootout we have coming to Tiki Lee’s, now is the time to make a presence and show the boat-racing community how committed we are to this. We are not just trying to host an event and bring the boaters here, we want to get involved and show our support in a variety of ways. We’re not one and done, this is just the beginning.”

In addition to representing Tiki Lee’s in the kilo event, Bollinger will share the cockpit of the first 32-foot Hellkats Powerboats catamaran with Rey Marino—the owner of the Miami-based boat company—in the top-speed shootout. “Rey asked me if I’d like to do the shootout with him and I said yes,” Bollinger said. “My buddy and I actually bought the second Hellkats 32, which is still being built.”

The familiar graphics of Fastboys Racing are gone for the 2021 season.
