Concept Boats Bringing Three Models To FPC Miami Boat Show Poker Run Exhibit

Like many other boat companies, the team at Concept Boats in Opa-locka, Fla., was disappointed when it found out the 2021 Miami International Boat Show was being cancelled. But when it heard that Stu Jones and the Florida Powerboat Club were going to expand upon the Miami Boat Show Poker Run to include a go-fast powerboat-exclusive exhibition at Gilbert’s Resort in Key Largo, Fla., that took a little bit of the sting away.

“We think it’s a great idea, hands down, now that the boat show is not happening,” said Eric Avila, Concept’s vice president and the son of company founder and president, Luis Avila. “Being able to showcase our boats in an environment like the Florida Keys is going to be incredible. Who doesn’t like the sound of a boat show in the Keys? The turnout should be great.”

Avila said the company, which offers models ranging from 23 to 44 feet, is planning to bring two new 44-foot luxury performance center consoles, one with quad Mercury Racing 400R engines (pictured) and another that is expected to be finished at the end of this month with Mercury Racing 450R engines, for the in-water display. A smaller, to-be-determined center console is going to be displayed at the on-land portion of the event, which is scheduled for February 18-21.

“We’ve always enjoyed being a part of the Florida Powerboat Club events by showing off our models and supporting our customers at the poker runs,” Avila said. “My dad started this business in 1986 and we’ve continued to evolve and improve ever since. The Florida Powerboat Club continues to do the same, and this show is another example of that. I think our boats, especially the bigger boats like our 44s that we’ll have on display with newly redesigned consoles, are a great example of Concept’s evolution.”
