Total Team Effort Leads To 11 MTI Deliveries In First 11 Weeks Of 2021, Including New 50V

Just in time for tomorrow—the first day of the sixth annual MTI Owners Fun Run in the Florida Keys that concludes on Sunday, March 14—the team from the Wentzville, Mo.-based MTI is wrapping up the delivery of several new boats to extremely excited clients. That alone is pretty remarkable and the same could be said for the more than 60-plus MTI owners who signed up for this year’s run organized by the talented team at MTI.

The team at MTI is excited to showcase its new 50-foot luxury performance center console during this week’s MTI Owners Fun Run in the Florida Keys.

Even more remarkable, though, is the fact that with this week’s deliveries MTI will have delivered 11 new boats in the first 11 weeks of 2021, the last of which is the company’s first 50-foot luxury performance center console powered by five Mercury Racing 450R engines (above) that the company is debuting at the fun run. And while that number—a boat a week—would have sounded liked a pipedream to owner and founder Randy Scism 10 or 15 years ago, it’s starting to become the norm thanks to MTI’s increased workforce and ever-expanding layup, paint and rigging capabilities.

“Our target this year is 48 boats, basically four boats a month,” said Scism, who sounded super excited to show off the new 50V and take it on its maiden voyage this week. “Before this year, I never really envisioned us producing a boat a week, but now that we’ve gotten to that point, it doesn’t feel all that far-fetched. It hasn’t been without its headaches—we have a lot of moving parts—but overall I’m very proud of our team.

“We really do have a great team,” he continued. “Between the crew in Green Bay that handles our hull and mold work to the rigging guys here in Missouri who keep knocking it out of the park, I believe we have some of the best employees in the whole world. It helps that we have four full-time paint booths going now, too, plus two other paintshops we’re keeping busy. The paint can be the biggest part of the production slow down so that’s helped us a lot.”

Scism said he doesn’t take it for granted how fortunate MTI has been as of late.

“Our clients are some of our best salespeople—they are the ones who live and breathe this stuff,” Scism explained. “A lot of it is word of mouth. One guy gets a boat and his buddy finds out and his buddies’ buddy finds out and now they all want one. Our team did everything in its power to get some of the boats done for this week’s fun run and it was worth it to see the smiles on our clients’ faces.”

Taylor Scism, Randy’s daughter and MTI’s client relations manager, said that MTI’s events—this early March Owners Fun Run in particular—have driven the team to meet its goals more effectively.

“The MTI family has embraced our owners events so much, it’s been amazing,” said Taylor Scism. “There were a few boats we weren’t slated to finish until the spring, but because the clients really wanted to use them in our Owners Fun Run, which has become one of our most important events of the year, we pushed to get them done.”

Along with the company’s demo 50-foot center console, here’s a list at the other boats MTI has finished and delivered this year: Eric and Keri Belisle’s 390X powered by twin Mercury Racing 450R engines, Mark and Britney Godsey’s 390X with twin 450Rs, Vince and Tara Gagliardi’s 390X with twin 450Rs, MTI’s latest 390X demo with the same power, Shane Moreau’s 340X with twin 450Rs, Brad Holzhauer’s 48 race/pleasure cat with twin Mercury Racing 1350/1100 engines, Austin Carver’s 42V with five 450R engines, Chris Hummel’s 42V with quad 450Rs and Performance Boat Center’s demo 42V with quad 450Rs.

The Scisms gave credit to Milton Calafell and the team at the company’s Miami-based sales, service and storage center in Haulover Marine Center for bringing the utmost care and dedication to making it easy for the MTI family of boaters to use their high-performance catamarans and center consoles.

“The white-glove service those guys offer is incredible,” Randy Scism said. “I also have to thank the guys at Haulover, John and Matt, for being so easy to work with. That facility is one of a kind and we’re grateful to be able to operate out of it. It’s allowed many of our owners to be able to boat year round, too. It’s also allowed us to produce events such as our Owners Fun Run and other gatherings for our clients.”
