MTI and Skater Road-Trip Couples Heading to Super Cat Fest and Shootout

How do you recover from an unforgettable 10-day summer adventure in Germany led by one of your best go-fast boating friends who was born and raised there? You haul yourself and your beautiful boat to Central Missouri in late August for the concurrent Super Cat Fest—at the Camden on the Lake Resort—and the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. At least that’s what you do if you’re Mike and Angela Goldbaugh, the owners of Late Fee$ X 2, a Skater Powerboats 368 catamaran, and Mark and Britney Godsey, who own a 38-foot MTI cat called Project Mayhem.

The Godseys, who live in Tennessee, met and became close friends with the Alabama-based Goldbaughs through high-performance boating events. Mike Goldbaugh was born and raised in Germany, so when the subject of a European couples’ vacation came up the group arrived at Germany as a destination with Goldbaugh, who speaks German fluently, as their tour guide. Joined by 32-foot DCB Performance Boats catamaran owners Bryan and Karen Little, they visited Germany in mid July.

“With Mike growing up there and speaking the language and basically planning our whole trip, it was a lot of fun,” said Mark Godsey. “We were able to get off the beaten path after we got into Munich, explore some really cool spots and get away from the big tourist traps. In most places, the people spoke English but in some they didn’t so it was great having Mike there.”

They toured castles, visited with old-world—and world-class—glassblowers, checked out the world’s largest coo-coo clock factory and, of course, discovered the beauty and serenity that can only be found in Hofbräuhaus München. And with all that behind them, they’ll be heading to the Lake of the Ozarks in a couple of weeks.

While Goldbaugh was able to secure a slip for his boat during Super Cat Fest at host Camden on the Lake Resort, Godsey was not. For the most part when they’re not running—meaning rarely—the catamarans will be docked in front of a rental home in a nearby cove. (They’ll be joined there by the Littles as well as Chad and Heather Collier, whose 44-foot Mystic Powerboats called Habitual will be displayed at the Super Cat Fest docks.) Both couples are excited to be heading to the event.

“If I had a choice, I’d live at the Lake of the Ozarks full time,” Goldbaugh said. “It’s so powerboat friendly. They’ve always treated us so well there.”

“We can walk to Camden on the Lake from where we’re staying,” Godsey said. “There’s a lot of excitement for Super Cat Fest this year. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
