Sneak Peek: Waves And Wheels To Debut Shootout On The Strip Showstoppers

Although it is only one part of the sizable Oklahoma-based Team Black Diamond fleet—which includes the Black Diamond 52-foot MTI catamaran, the Black Diamond Express MTI 340X and the Six Karat Cigarette Racing Team 59 Tirranna featuring six Mercury Racing 450R engines—the team at Waves and Wheels is excited to show off the Team Black Diamond SportChassis update it wrapped up just in for the upcoming Shootout on the Strip taking place this Wednesday (Aug. 26) along Bagnell Dam Boulevard as part of the 32nd annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri.

The beast of a tow rig received a new custom-tailored interior, including electronics and lighting upgrades, and a massive Bluave Marine Audio sound system. Justin Wagner, the owner of the Osage Beach, Mo., company that has been the title sponsor for the Shootout on the Strip since 2015, sent us a few sneak peek images of the truck (above and right), but you’ll have to wait until Wednesday to get a full look at the remarkable SportChassis.

“We’re looking forward to this year’s Shootout on the Strip—it’s probably our company’s biggest night of the season for promoting our products and connecting with customers and like-minded boaters,” Wagner said. “Having the full Team Black Diamond fleet on hand is going to be so cool. They’re pretty special when you see them up close, out of the water and hooked up to their haulers. And they all have incredible stereos so having them synched up with our DJ is going to be awesome. This is going to be our biggest and best display yet.”

And probably the loudest based on Wagner’s track record.

Wagner said that Waves and Wheels also plans to publicly debut The American—the recently updated (inside and out) 2006 Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats 42 Legacy owned by Steve and Marsha Brantley—during the Shootout on the Strip gathering, which is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“Our guys have put a lot of work into The American so we can’t wait to show it off,” Wagner explained, adding that the 42-footer was painted by the paintshop he owns with Maryland Offshore Performance Marine Center’s Andy Imhof called Graphix 1 Paint in Osage Beach. “The owners plan to take the boat to their home lake, Pickwick Lake in Tennessee, the next day, but we’re grateful they’ve agreed to let us put it on display Wednesday night. I think they’re going to love seeing it there and all the attention it’s going to get.”

The American—a 2006 Outerlimits 42 Legacy that was recently overhauled by the team at Waves and Wheels—is going to be on hand for this week’s Shootout on the Strip.

Wagner, who has been involved in other aspects of the Shootout over the years including participating in the top-speed event, organizing a stereo shootout competition and providing rides in his boats at the event’s Wishing On A Ride days, said that Waves and Wheels is going to be a stop during Friday’s poker run for the first time.

Being a poker run stop wasn’t possible before a few years ago when Wagner purchased what he’s since revamped into The Boardwalk at Waves and Wheels at mile marker 26. Since officially opening the facility in the fall of 2018, the property has come a long way and Wagner is excited to have the poker run fleet stopping by this year.
